Jeff Larason

Born in the Midwest, Jeff Larason has been a street photographer since the ’80s.  Recently, he has branched out to other photographic genres. No matter the style, his photography reflects his interest in places and how people interact with their environment. 

On the street, Jeff has been a "hip shooter" from early on, rarely looking through the lens to make an image. Over the last few years, he has slowed down his practice and is capturing images within the landscape.

He is a finalist for the 2023 Critical Mass Top 200 and hosts The Crit House, a popular YouTube photography channel.  Jeff is a founding member of the Boston Streets Collective, a group of street photographers.  His book, “Sonder,” was recognized as one of the year's best photobooks in 2020. Many of his images are captured with an iPhone, and some of these images have been recognized internationally.  

Professionally, Larason has made a career in radio and television and as a road safety advocate.

Larason’s honors include a Grand Prize from the New York Center for Photographic Art and first and second-place awards in 2021, 2022, and 2023 in the International Mobile Photography Awards.   His work has appeared in dozens of shows in the US and worldwide.  He has been published in The Guardian, Boston Globe, These Streets Magazine, Camera and Darkroom, UK Daily Mail, BAM Magazine, and Stuff Magazine.
